FSC 1550: Drones
Federal Supply Class (FSC) 1550 covers unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and drone systems procured for military and government use. These platforms are assigned NSNs for provisioning and sustainment and range from small hand-launched units to large long-endurance aircraft.
Drones fly intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), targeting, communications relay, strike, and logistics missions without an onboard crew. They extend persistent coverage over an area while keeping personnel out of harm's way.
Common categories include small tactical UAS, medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) systems, and high-altitude long-endurance (HALE) systems. Platforms are built to airworthiness and MIL-SPEC standards and include both fixed-wing and rotary-wing configurations.
